[Bobbi and Clint didn't work together often. It was one of those rare things that just sort of happened when there was nobody else and Fury resigned himself to knowing that he was going to have to do a lot of insurance paperwork later.

Things always blew up when the two of them worked together. Things got messy. Things broke. People got hurt. And things exploded.

Needless to say, Nick Fury didn't like pairing them together for a reason.

But there the two of them were, tied up next to each other in an empty warehouse, waiting for the people who'd knocked them out and tied them up in the first place to come back.]

[Which is a terrifying and unfathomable place Clint has no interest in knowing, Bobbi. Nat can joke about raging sexual tension all she wants, Fury can complain about Istanbul, Phil could slip condoms into Clint's quiver. Immaterial. Really.

[wally walks out of his room scratching his head and stops to stare at the lump on his couch. he's really not surprised, because it's gracie, but he wasn't expecting her to be there. he sighs and leans over the couch to ruffle her hair]

[Bobbi was at work. On a mission, doing what she did best.

But then this asshole had to show up out of nowhere and start ruining things. Every time she turned a corner, he was there, and she was starting to worry her cover had been blown.

Luckily for her, if it had, she still had enough time to break into the safe and start looking for the goods she'd been assigned to get.

Unluckily for her, there the man was, not long after she broke in, watching her.]

Listen, I was really hoping to finish this job with the least amount of bloodshed possible, so if you could just turn around and not tell anyone about this, I promise I won't hurt you.

[so Francis is out in New York with his mom, since that's what families do, or something. it's just your typical kind of day, shopping, eating food, eye rolling when Bobbi does something stupid (or so he thinks)

they're just leaving one of the many, many little delis on the South side when Francis turns to his mom with a grin, because he's having a good time. like this

[It was supposed to be a normal day out. Maybe get some new school clothes, spend some quality time together, that sort of thing. Bobbi just wanted to spend time with her son, that was all.

But apparently the universe had other plans. Because an explosion during lunch was the last thing she needed during quality time with Francis.

Luckily, Francis ducked at the right time. Bobbi was caught in the impact, and flew back, hitting a wall. Once she shook it off, composed herself, and looked around for her son.]

Francis?! Where are you, kiddo?

[he has to hand it to her: his mom can take a hit. as soon as he was certain there weren't any more explosions, Francis was up, looking for ... well, he wasn't sure. a weapon and some information, really]

Over here! I'm gonna go check it out.

[And Bobbi was up, gun at the ready and eyes everywhere, knowing that this wasn't the end of it. There was no way.

She walks over to him, putting a hand on one of his shoulders, stopping him before he can go anywhere.]

Listen, I want you to take cover and call your dad and your uncle.

What? No! [gives her a look] You could use the breather more than I could. I won't go far, promise.

Touching a few buttons on the screen in front of him, Bruce’s eyes drifted inconspicuously to the side again, catching a glimpse of the young blonde woman that was currently sharing his lab space. Tony hadn’t given him much explanation, just claiming she was a new research assistant and saying something about an internship or a work term or something of the kind before he’d breezed out again. Bruce hadn’t been given any time to ask for clarification.

Forcing his eyes back to his work, he made a few notes before removing his glasses and rubbing the bridge of his nose. He didn’t like being around new people, they always made him nervous. Okay, so people in general made him nervous and he preferred to be alone, but he had a pretty good reason for it.

Slipping his glasses back on, he cast one more quick glance in Bobbi’s direction before trying to concentrate on his notes.

There was absolutely no way Bobbi couldn't notice all of those subtle glances Bruce was trying to give her. She knew who he was, of course, he was part of the reason she was actually here, and that? Didn't bother her at all. She had a feeling she was one of the few. It was why she didn't even have a problem accepting this assignment.

She waits a few minutes, waiting for another glance or something, before she finally can't keep her mouth shut any more. "You could always ask me my name or something." She smiles a little. "Might be a good place to start."

Bruce is slightly startled when she suddenly spoke, but he looked up at her with a bit of an embarrassed smile. “Tony told me what it was, but I’m pretty sure he had it wrong, unless your surname really is ‘Moose’.”

He removed his glasses again and tucked one arm of them into the front of his button up shirt. “Unless that is your name, in which case I’m sorry.”

If that really was her last name he was off to a tremendous start here. Talk about great first impressions.

"No, it's definitely not Moose." Bobbi laughs. She has a feeling Stark did that on purpose. He knew very well what her name was. "Close though. It's Morse."

It really did kind of sound like moose, at least. She takes a second to wipe her hands off on her jeans, then walks over to him and offers a hand to shake. Considering who she was introducing herself to, she felt like she should be a little worried about the situation, but she wasn't. She was more in awe that this was Bruce Banner. He was a scientific legend.

Of course, she couldn't actually let on that she knew who he was. Not really. Maybe a little.

"You can call me Bobbi."

Bruce smiled and lowered his eyes when she laughed. “Oh, good,” he said before taking the hand she offered and giving it a firm shake. “Bruce Banner. I guess we’ll be working together for a while, Miss Morse.”

Looking at her a moment his smile fell again. “Doctor Morse?” he queried. She looked so young, he just assumed she was still a student, but assumptions were something he tried not to make often. Fortunately she gave him a first name to use instead. “Bobbi,” he corrected himself, letting go of her hand. “I’m sorry, Tony didn’t really give me much information about you and what you will be doing here.”
